It's hot. After seeing these photos, This is what I want to be wearing in this heat.
1.The first picture is from Parsons 2011 BFA Fashion Show by Shawn Punch photography. If you want to go to the site click here or if you want to view all images click here.
I love this because it took the maxi dress trend and put huge slices in it so you don't feel like you're actually wearing a maxi dress. Also, the hair is perfect for this weather. It is honestly the first thing I do when I get home from work. I throw it all on top of my head.
2. The second photo is from a man whose streetstyle blog I've been following for years. Of course, it's Mr. Scott Schuman for The Sartorialist. (See his blog here)
I'm in love with this flowy red dress. In this heat, I don't want to wear anything too clingy.
3. Purse n' Boots is the name of this stylist's blog. (found here.) I love the deep racer back dress with the bra hanging out.  If you attempt this at home, make sure it's a cute one. (Cute ones can be found here, and here, and here)
4.  The final look is from Marc Jacobs Resort 2012 collection via style.com.
Who wouldn't want a huge baroque patterned dress?

Happy shopping and for goodness sake, stay in the AC...or by the pool!

WHAT WOULD MEL & B DO?: Shorts Story

As Mother Nature has been a tad bit moody lately, this post may not be useful until spring has officially arrived; however, with our hopes high, we have decided to show you some of our obsessions for the warmer weather.

Shorts!!  I’ve been obsessed with Phillip Lim’s cutout shorts for a few months now and finally found some on NastyGal.  Not only do they have cute girly scalloped edges, but I can hone in on my hardcore side with the leather material.  That’s right, I said leather. Don’t be afraid Manhattan, Kansas, this is a trend you can fully embrace. I believe in you.  Try with an oversized tank top and a cute pair of wedge booties from The Purple Pump.

TOMMY by Tommy Hilfiger showed some fun graphic shorts for spring. Inspired by the collection, we found a less expensive version from Forever 21. They might look intimidating, but do what TOMMY did and pair with solids or stripes!

Our Forever 21 Version:

Wear them out at night with:

Top: A basic slightly over-sized top tucked into the shorts.  Try off the shoulder if you’re feeling scandalous. Don’t have one? Click this: http://us.asos.com/ASOS-ASOS-Classic-Crop/vpe6b/?iid=1479175&cid=4169&sh=0&pge=2&pgesize=20&sort=-1&clr=Black&mporgp=L0Fzb3MvQXNvcy1DbGFzc2ljLUNyb3AvUHJvZC8.

Shoes: I pick the black shoe booties from The Purple Pump.

Wear them during the day with:

IF YOU MISSED IT: Static hair

Are you tired of hair static? We have a couple solutions for you:

Solution 1: Quick fix! If your hair is looking a tad bit like Einstein's, put some lotion on your hands and rub your fingers through your hair. Depending on how thin your hair is, a dime size amount goes a long way. Too much lotion can make your hair oily.

Solution 2: Quick fix! Take a dryer sheet to your hair. While holding portions of your hair, rub the dryer sheet from scalp to end along the strands. Because dryer sheets work best when damp, if it doesn't work while dry, add some water to it!

Solution 3: To keep your hair from drying out in the winter, try using a silk pillow case. A cotton pillow case may be easier to find; however, it tends to soak up any moisture in your hair while you're sleeping. Silk allows your hair to breath and in my opinion, is ten times more comfortable.

Lastly, if your hair will not cooperate, try controlling it with a fashionable fish-tail. Just in-case you missed it in the magazines recently, we have posted a TRESemme ad featuring The City's, Whitney Port. Step-by-step directions are given and the braid can be done within minutes. It is easy for campus and will keep your hair controlled in this winter weather.

Tip: If your hair is thin, try making the braid messier than usual to make it look thicker than it truly is.
